Health Plan

Full-time registered post-secondary students are automatically covered under the FSU Health Plan for prescription drugs, dental benefits and accident benefits. The deadline for January 2017 intake students to opt-out of the FSU Health Plan, or opt family members into the FSU Health Plan was at 4 pm on January 17th, 2017.

Benefits

  • Full academic year coverage (September 1st, 2016 to August 31st, 2017)
  • Student card may be used as a pay-direct drug card (accepted at most pharmacies across Canada)
  • Prescription Drug coverage
  • Dental coverage
  • Extended Health coverage - vision, physiotherapy, massage therapy, etc.
  • Accident coverage
  • Option to opt out if you have similar coverage
  • Option to opt in your dependents

Co-Op Health Plan Opt-In

When a student is on co-op, they are not covered under the FSU Health Plan or the bus pass, as they have not paid their ancillary fees, which these services fall under. However, there is an option for co-op students to opt-in to the FSU Health Plan and/or bus pass for a fee.

  • Co-Op Bus Pass Opt-In Fee - $113.00
  • Co-Op Health Plan Opt-In Fee - $115.00 (The student has 10 days from the beginning of their academic term to opt-in to this service)

When a co-op student pays the above fees, the student will have access to the FSU Health Plan and/or the bus pass for the period of their co-op term.

  • Fall Co-Op Opt-In - Covered from September 1st to December 31st
  • Winter Co-Op Opt-In - Covered from January 1st until August 31st

Students pay the fee to a maximum of two semesters per academic year. For more information, speak to reception in the FSU Office, SC2001.

For additional information, please visit the FSU Office in SC2001 or call us at 519.452.4109.
