Scribendi.com – remember the name because it might just save your behind this year.

The 24 hour, seven days a week editing service based in Chatham, Ontario has the services needed to help students make the grade – and above average grades, no less.

They’ve recently launched a new site that’s user-friendly and chalk full of free writing resources for business types to students. Some of the resources centered around students include documents on helping you figure out what your professor wants in a paper to how to do APA citation style. It also has all of its student services available with just a click of the mouse.

This area of the site is particularly busy. Student and academic editing services make up 60 per cent of Scribendi’s business, said president and founder Chandra Clarke.

“It’s popular – particularly important for first years. They’re at a whole new level, there are high expectations,” she explained. “Sometimes it’s difficult to get instructors’ time, so we help students who might not get the face time.”

Their extensive list for student editing services include first draft editing, proofreading your final draft so you don’t get docked 50 per cent for some typo, style checking for all those pesky citations, admissions essays and they even include editing for dissertations and theses.

Concerned about the price? Don’t be, said Clarke. The student section has the lowest prices on the site and they decided those prices with student budgets in mind, she said. There will also be a coupon system up and running once the school year officially begins.

The company got its start in 1997 by Clarke, a former managing editor at a newspaper. She decided on branching out with the company after years of noticing how documents sent to the paper, like press releases, often contained grammar or spelling errors.

“It was fairly appalling actually,” she said.

She recognized there was a market for an editing and proofreading business and began on her own, eventually hiring other editors and employees. They also jumped on the Internet bandwagon before it really took off. That tech-savvy attitude has kept them ahead of the curve to become a leading online editing and proofreading company.

It seems that their forward-thinking attitude is all about serving their clients better – and that means you.

“When it comes time to tackle the first major paper of the term, we want students to know that they can turn to us for advice as well as quality editing services,” said Clarke.
