Strategic Framework and Growth Strategy

2008-2009

The framework will always include, and be driven by, these prioritizing factors. This will ensure the framework always guides the Fanshawe Student Union in a constant direction.

Mission Statement:
“The Fanshawe Student Union is an organization committed to the diverse needs of its student members to foster and embrace success”

“Students Serving Students”

Intended Results
• Effective Student Leadership
• Keeping Decision Makers Informed of Student Position
• Work with College and CSA to ensure Quality Education
• Work with College and CSA to ensure Proper Recognition of Prior Learning
• Work with CSA to assist with Accessibility to College Education
• Representation of all Fanshawe Students

Objectives:
1. Increasing the engagement of the Student members
2. Enhance the Fanshawe Student Union’s positive partnership with the College
3. Increase the positive presence of the Fanshawe Student Union in the College and Community

The framework will guide the Fanshawe Student Union for the next year. It will be revised on an annual basis to reflect the current realities of the organization and needs of the membership. As denoted in the policy manual, the framework will be presented yearly at the appropriate Executive Meeting (May).

Student Administrative Council’s role in the process
As the Executives paramount responsibility is linking with its student members, this will be done in drafting the annual strategic framework. The framework will then be presented to the Student Administrative Council (S.A.C) for their review, input and approval during their initial interaction. This practice will ensure that the framework accurately reflects the current needs and priorities of the student members.

The Executive’s role in the process
The framework was developed by the current Executive with frequent Student Administrative Council consultation. Similar to this year, the Board will be active in the updating of this document. Any amendments will be done to better reflect the current and changing needs of the membership.

To achieve the objectives
The proposed framework is only attainable if the Executive and S.A.C membership numbers and involvement remains the same or increases; and proper measurable characteristics are developed and enforced. (A change in any of the two variables would mean a change in the framework.)
