Five years for a record to have “blossomed into a great album”

Marcy Playground (MP) is hitting the road with six Canadian dates this fall in support of their fourth album, Leaving Wonderland…in a fit of rage, released July 7th on EMI Music Canada.

“The album (Leaving Wonderland…in a fit of rage) has been a long five years coming,” said John Wozniak, right, lead vocalist and guitarist for the band.

The band, currently touring in the United States are enthusiastic about visiting London on September 18.

MP will play old favourites and new hits from their highly anticipated fourth album at Norma Jean's.

“We are very happy to be coming to London…and extremely excited to be playing at Norma Jean's. We have played in places such as Toronto and Buffalo before…but never in London,” said Wozniak. “It took a long time for this album to come together, but in the end the record has blossomed into a great album.”

The album has been described as a mature, coming of age record that received help from many great musicians to have come together the great way it has, Wozniak mentioned.

The record digs deep on an emotional level for Wozniak, as the tracks were comprised during an exhausting time in his life. Having gone through a divorce at the time the album was coming together, Wozniak said this album is “by far the best thing I have ever done. This is the most personal record I have ever made, and I think it's the thing that will connect most with other people.”

The current single off Leaving Wonderland…in a fit of rage “Star Baby,” is presently circulating on airwaves everywhere.

“We are actually shooting the video for Star Baby when we come to Toronto,” Wozniak said.

MP is a melodic modern rock band, that exploded onto the scene back in 1997 with their irresistible hit single “Sex and Candy.” That song scored the band 15 consecutive weeks at number one on Billboard's U.S. Modern Rock tracks chart and also a self-titled debut album that went on to sell 1.7 million copies worldwide.

MP believe in giving their audience the opportunity to experience all they have to offer and that is why they provide their fans “free live streaming” on their webpage, said Wozniak.
