The Fanshawe Student Union (FSU) is excited to announce that Financial Literacy Week is taking place this week, November 10 to 14, featuring a series of events and activities designed to help students build practical financial management skills and confidence in their budgetary decisions.

Financial Literacy Week aims to empower students with the tools and knowledge to make informed choices about their financial futures. Throughout the week, we’ll explore topics such as:

  • Housing affordability
  • Food instability
  • Affordability as a student
  • Investing in the future
  • Managing your money on a tight budget

On November 13, the FSU will host a panel discussion in Forwell Hall from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., bringing together professionals and student voices to talk about financial literacy from diverse perspectives. This engaging conversation will provide real-world insight and advice for managing finances.

“Last month, we focused on mental health, encouraging open conversations and offering activities to support your overall wellness,” says Gideon Bett, FSU Vice President of Student Engagement. ”But as we’ve learned, wellness isn’t just emotional or physical, it's also financial.”

He added that students will, “Hear from experts, ask questions, and even have a chance to win prizes.”

It’s never too late to start your financial education and we’re here to help.

We encourage everyone to take part in Financial Literacy Week and make the most of this opportunity to strengthen your financial skills.
