The Fanshawe Student Union (FSU) is a student body representative, designed to meet the various needs and expectations of students attending Fanshawe College.
The FSU is the place to go to find out about your student council, student services such as your health plan and bus pass, events, contests and how to get involved with the FSU.
The Fanshawe Student Union is an organization committed to excellence in service and student support within the diverse student community of Fanshawe College.
Governance
Fanshawe College was established and Robert Clark was elected as the first FSU President.
The FSU was incorporated on October 13, 1971. The FSU was the only college student union in Ontario to be incorporated, following the university model.
The Fanshawe student newspaper was renamed from The Dam to Interrobang.
The Student Union Building (SUB) was constructed, including the main office, multipurpose hall, newspaper office and Falcon's Nest variety store.
FSU President Mike Sharpe negotiated with the College for the formation of the Alumni Association and a student fee was established.
Office of the Ombuds was established.
Forwell Hall was named and The Out Back Shack opened.
LTC bus pass for students was implemented (transition to 12-month pass in 2003).
FSU took over the Health Plan from the College.
FSU Student Centre opened at Fanshawe’s London Campus.
FSU's Bike Share Program was created for students to borrow a bike.
Student Wellness Centre opened in May 2017 followed by Booster Juice.
Innovation Village concept takes life and renovation begins.
Innovation Village construction began, to be completed in 2024.
A dedicated esports arena opens for all Fanshawe students to use.
Innovation Village, including the new Forwell Hall opened to the public on January 26, 2024.
Located in the SUB, The FSU’s Nest Convenience Store opened its doors.
