All full time post-secondary DOMESTIC students are automatically enrolled in the Domestic Student Health Plan. Coverage is available for one full academic year (September 1 to August 31) and includes prescription drugs, dental and extended health (vision, physiotherapy, massage therapy, etc.) and accident coverage.

Changes to your Domestic Student Health Plan that can be made before the applicable deadline include:

  • Option to Change Coverage Plan
  • Option to Opt-Out with proof of alternative coverage
  • Option to Opt-In Dependents (* Additional fee payment required)

Any changes to your coverage must be made in the first academic semester of the academic year and prior to the corresponding deadline (for example, September Start – Fall Deadline; January Start – Winter Deadline; May Start – Summer Deadline)

All domestic students are automatically enrolled in Flex Plan Option 1: Balanced Plan.

  • Flex Plan Option 1: Balanced Plan (auto-enrolled)
    → If you want to stay in this plan, no action needed.
  • Flex Plan Option 2: Enhanced Dental
  • Flex Plan Option 3: Enhanced Drug (EHC plan)

Add Dependents

Only the student has access to the Domestic Student Health Plan by default, however, students with dependents (for example, spouse and children) can add them onto their health plan for an additional fee. This process may completed online at alumo.ca or in-person at the FSU Office, room SC1000.

Opt-Out

Students with proof of alternative coverage may opt-out of the Domestic Student Health Plan and receive a refund. A student must opt-out during their first academic semester prior to the deadline. There will be no exceptions after the deadline has passed.

To Opt-Out of the Domestic Student Health Plan, visit www.alumo.ca and follow these steps:

  • Choose ‘Fanshawe College Student Union (FSU)’ from the search field
  • Choose ‘Manage My Plan’ from the menu at the top of the page
  • Click ‘Manage my Plan’ in the submenu that appears
  • Scroll down and click ‘Change my coverage now’, which is found in the ‘Change-of-Coverage and Opt-Out‘ box
  • Click the square that says ‘Opt-Out’

Complete the form including adding alternative coverage information and direct deposit information and hit submit.

Note: The opt-out process must be completed online and a confirmation receipt will be provided when the opt-out is completed successfully. Refunds will be received roughly 8 to 10 weeks after the deadline has passed. If the reimbursement has not been received and it is after this timeline, please contact the FSU directly for assistance.

Part-Time Post-Secondary Opt-In

The Fanshawe Student Union (FSU) is extending the opportunity for part-time students registered in a part-time post-secondary program (CTPT) to opt-in to the Domestic Student Health Plan (Balanced Plan) for the 2026-2027 Academic Year (Extended Pilot).

 

Interested students must complete this opt-in process online by visiting alumo.ca and following these steps:

  • Choose ‘Fanshawe College Student Union (FSU)’ from the search field
  • Choose ‘Manage My Plan’ from the menu at the top of the page
  • Click ‘Manage my Plan’ in the submenu that appears
  • Scroll down and click ‘Change my coverage now’, which is found in the ‘Change-of-Coverage and Opt-Out‘ box
  • Click the square that says ‘Part Time Opt In’

Complete the application including online payment (Visa/Mastercard) and when completed, a copy of the request and payment will be issued to the student.

 

Students may change/choose their plan and/or opt-in family members* (spouse/dependents) online after the opt-in is complete. A full breakdown of health plan(s) can be found at the alumo.ca website. *Additional fee applies.  

Please note, health coverage is not instant, once the opt-in period has past and confirmation of eligibility has been shared with the insurance company, the student will be added onto the domestic student health plan.

Co-Op Health Plan Form

If you are on an approved co-op term for the Fall 2026 semester, you have not been enrolled into the FSU domestic student health plan, as you have not paid the FSU Health Plan Fee. If you wish to opt-in to the FSU Domestic Student Health Plan, please fill out the Co-Op Health Plan form

The coverage period runs from September 1, 2026 through August 31, 2027.

How to Use Your Domestic Student Health Plan

To use your Domestic Student Health Plan, you will need to provide the following information to any provider (for example, pharmacy, dentist, etc.) to direct bill or to make an online claim for reimbursement.

  • Group number: 514560
  • Policy number: 100011701
  • Provider: ClaimSecure
  • ‘R00’ followed by your 7-digit student number. 10 digits in total. (Note: it is two zeros after the ‘R’)

Download your Claim Card  or pick one up at the FSU Office in SC1000.

How Do I Access 24/7 Care?

Visit the Student Assistance Program page on Alumo’s website and create an account. You will need the following information to create your account:

  • Date of birth
