Health Plan (Domestic Students)

The information below, with the exception of the section titled International Students Health Plan applies to DOMESTIC students only. International students should visit for information on their health plan.

Full-time registered post-secondary domestic students are automatically covered under the FSU Health Plan for prescription drugs, dental benefits and accident benefits. The deadline for September 2021 intake students to opt-out of the FSU Health Plan, opt-in family members, or choose which type of coverage you wish to have was Monday, September 20, 2021 at 4 p.m.


  • Full academic year coverage (September 1st to August 31st)
  • Student card may be used as a pay-direct drug card (accepted at most pharmacies across Canada)
  • Prescription Drug coverage
  • Dental coverage
  • Extended Health coverage - vision, physiotherapy, massage therapy, etc.
  • Accident coverage
  • Option to opt out if you have similar coverage
  • Option to opt in your dependents

Co-Op Health Plan

When a student is on co-op, they are not covered under the FSU Health Plan and do not receive bus pass, as they have not paid their ancillary fees which these services fall under. However, students may obtain a bus pass and/or be covered under the FSU Health Plan for a fee.

Fall 2022 Co-Op Health Plan Fee - $230.00
Please note, your coverage will be effective until August 31, 2022*
*some restrictions apply and no refunds will be issued

The student has 10 days from the beginning of their academic term to pay the fee for this service.

Claim Submission Information

If you pay for prescription medication, dental work or any other services covered under the FSU Health Plan without using your student card, you can get reimbursed by filling out the appropriate form above.
