Hey Falcons!
I am Shadé Dias, and Im honoured to serve as your Fanshawe Student Union (FSU) President for 2026–27 term. As an Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Management) student and a proud Londoner of Jamaican roots, I value leadership, resilience, and the strength of our community that defines our campus.
Ive served as Board Chair of the Fanshawe Student Union and as the student representative on Fanshawes Board of Governors and was honoured to receive the 2025 Leadership and Excellence Award from Colleges and Institutes Canada.
Through these experiences, Ive seen the impact of strong student leadership, and where we can grow. That drives my commitment to creating a more supportive, connected, and empowering student experience.
Im focused on strengthening student supports, expanding career opportunities, and enhancing accessible wellness resources.
I lead with accountability, action, and a student-first approach to ensure every student feels valued, supported and proud to be part of Fanshawe.
Together, we move forward! One Love!
In my Graphic Design program, I study visual communication and ways to make design more inclusive and accessible. Before coming to Canada, I explored various creative fields, including freelance illustration, and found it to be an effective way to connect with people and express ideas.
Alongside my studies, I worked as part of the Residence Advisor team, where we supported students through challenges, contributed to programming, and helped create a safe and welcoming environment. This experience showed me how important it is for students to feel seen and supported in their community.
As someone who understands how important a sense of belonging can be, I strive to support spaces where students feel comfortable being themselves. Im excited to bring my experience into this role and help build a community where more students feel connected and heard at Fanshawe.
Dear Falcons,
Im Ruby Chen, your FSU VP of Advocacy & College Affairs for 2026–27.
I believe a strong campus community is built on respect, communication, and supporting one another. My experiences in academic and leadership roles have shown me how meaningful it is when students feel connected.
Throughout my journey, I have served as student Vice President and later as President and Honours Class Leader in China, working closely with the school and representing the student body. Those roles let me see whats possible when students and the institution work together through understanding and collaboration.
In Canada, Ive participated in academic support, volunteer work, and community events, which have allowed me to work with people from diverse backgrounds. Through these experiences, I hope to serve as a bridge connecting students in need with opportunities, support, and campus life.
As your FSU VP this year, I hope to be someone you can trust as we enjoy and make the most of our college experience together.
Im Douglas, most people call me Doug. Im a Music Industry Arts (MIA) student with a background in Child and Youth Care! I have my own music released under DOUGIE and I have my band Dougie And The Keefs. I love the events the FSU has put on and am looking forward to continuing the fan favourites, but Im really looking forward to highlighting local music and putting on killer shows for all of you! Excited for a killer year at Fanshawe.
