Student Appeals

Student Academic Appeals

As a Fanshawe student, you have the right to ask for a review of academic decisions that you believe are unfair or if there are special obstacles that impacted your academic performance.

The FSU Vice President, Advocacy & College Affairs and FSU Student Advocate Team can guide you through the process and ensure that your concerns are heard and fairly considered.

Important Information

  • Prior to starting the appeal process, it is necessary to consult with your Professor, Academic Advisor, or Program Coordinator to try to come to a resolution.
  • If you want to proceed to the appeal process, read A128: Student Appeals Policy first and then, if your case is related to academic integrity issues, also read A136: Academic Integrity
  • You will need to gather all supporting documents and write the letter of appeal, which will include a timeline of events, explain the grounds for appeal, and propose the outcome of your case, for example, redoing the assignment.
  • All appeals must be submitted within seven college business days of receiving your grade or an academic offence.

Other Appeals

If you experience issues related to fees or the Student Code of Conduct, you may file a Fee Appeal or Student Code of Conduct Appeal accordingly. Please reach out to the Vice President, Advocacy & College Affairs, if you need assistance. Your email should contain your name, your student number, the program that you are in, and a brief explanation of your case. You can also book an appointment with the Vice President, Advocacy & College Affairs to discuss your situation.
