Access to essential hygiene products shouldn’t be a question mark on campus.

Over the past year, the Fanshawe Student Union (FSU) has worked closely with Fanshawe College to help ensure menstrual products are available and consistently stocked in washrooms across all London campuses.

The project was a key priority outlined in FSU President Jerry Thomas’ presidential manifesto and has been an important focus throughout his term. By working closely with Fanshawe College, the FSU has helped establish a process to ensure that machines containing menstrual products in all campus washrooms are not only installed but consistently stocked.

Menstrual products are a basic need, and no student should have to worry about access while on campus. The initiative is a testament to the FSU’s commitment to advocating for solutions that support students every day, in collaboration with Fanshawe College.

As part of the initiative, the FSU also designed and installed a distinctive pink sticker on menstrual product dispensers. These stickers are now visible across campus which clearly include contact information so students can easily report when supplies need to be refilled.

FSU President Jerry Thomas said, “From advocacy to design and working with Fanshawe College on long-term maintenance, it is all about creating a system that lasts—not a one-time fix.”

Through this collaboration, menstrual products will remain accessible in all washrooms, not just FSU spaces, reinforcing a campus environment that prioritizes inclusion, care, and student voices.

The FSU remains committed to equity, student advocacy, and creating a campus where students feel supported.
