Hello everyone,
My name is Afzal, and I am running for the position of FSU President for 2026–27. I am committed to building a campus where every student feels supported and represented.
As an international student, my journey in Canada has been shaped by kindness, resilience, and growth. During my time at Fanshawe, I have built strong relationships with students from diverse cultures by listening to your ideas, your concerns, and what truly matters to you.
On the professional front, I have worked as a journalist with ESPN, as well as with accounting giants Deloitte and EY. I am also a certified scuba diver — which means I stay calm, focused, and solution-oriented even in challenging situations.
I have heard your voices and understand where we can improve. I want to be part of that change — not with empty promises, but with clear action.
If elected, I will ensure stronger student representation at both college and provincial levels. Let’s build a student union where every voice matters.
Let’s move forward with purpose.
Let’s lead together.
Harsh (Harry Rana) is a dedicated student leader at Fanshawe College currently pursuing his second program, Software and Information Systems Testing, after completing Technical Systems Analysis. With strong analytical skills and real-world student experience, Harsh understands both the academic and practical challenges students face. As a Peer Mentor and Fanshawe International Digital Ambassador, he has mentored over 15 students directly and guided more than 50 students through academic, career, and campus-related support.
Harsh is running for FSU President with a results-driven vision focused on affordability, student advocacy, career readiness, and campus well-being. His platform addresses key student concerns including housing support, food security, mental health resources, improved academic advising, campus safety, and stronger communication between students and administration.
Even before holding office, Harsh has taken initiative by building partnerships that are ready to be implemented through official FSU collaboration. These include securing a 20% student discount on supplements at a Supplement store and negotiating affordable produce (vegetables and fruits) box for students and the cost will be cheaper than anywhere else (approx. 70% less than Walmart, FreshCo, Food basics) for students on weekends. However, full implementation and expansion of these initiatives require formal support and recognition through the FSU President role.
Harsh believes leadership is about action, accountability, and measurable outcomes. He is committed to transforming student feedback into real solutions and ensuring every student feels represented and heard. His goal is to create a more affordable, supportive, and opportunity-focused campus where students can succeed confidently in Canada.
When I joined Fanshawe College, I felt overwhelmed. Everything was new; the country, the rules, and the people around me. I didn’t know where to go or whom to ask for help. However, soon, I discovered the resources available. FSU made me feel welcome. They gave me the chance to meet new people. Attending events made me feel included and a part of the community. That experience stuck with me and inspired me to ensure that every new student feels the same or maybe stronger sense of belonging.
Coming from an HR background, I know how big a difference it makes when someone truly feels heard and valued. When students feel supported, they become motivated, confident, and ready to participate fully in their college journey. I want everyone to feel that their voice matters and they are never alone.
In my first two semesters as a Class Representative, I helped fellow students navigate college resources and solve problems they were facing. Now, as a Peer Mentor, I guide new students through campus life, helping them adjust, and feel at home at Fanshawe.
If elected FSU President, I will:
To me, leadership is about listening, acting, and creating opportunities that make every student feel motivated, valued, and empowered to thrive.
My name is David Chenebuah, and I am a dedicated student leader at Fanshawe College. I am committed to building a more connected, engaged, and supportive student community. During my time at Fanshawe, I have focused on collaboration, leadership, and meaningful student engagement. My goal is to create spaces where students feel welcomed, informed, and empowered to participate fully in campus life.
I believe effective leadership starts with listening. By engaging directly with students and learning from their experiences, I have gained a strong understanding of the challenges students face, from balancing academics and personal responsibilities to navigating available support and opportunities on campus. These conversations have shaped my leadership style, which emphasizes thoughtful advocacy, clear communication, and practical solutions that address real student needs.
As a candidate for FSU President, I aim to strengthen student engagement, advocate for student-centered initiatives, and prepare students for a rapidly changing future. I am passionate about helping students feel more connected to their campus community while ensuring that resources, opportunities, and supports are accessible and visible to all.
Fanshawe’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths. I am committed to representing all students with integrity, openness, and responsibility. I believe leadership is about bringing people together, creating growth opportunities, and working collaboratively to improve the overall student experience. I look forward to continuing to listen, learn, and contribute to a stronger and more inclusive Fanshawe community.
Hello, Falcons!
My name is Shadé Dias, and I’m proud to once again put my name forward to serve as your next FSU President. As a student in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Management) program and a proud Canadian of Jamaican heritage, I represent leadership, strength, resilience, and diversity that make our Fanshawe community so powerful.
Over my time at Fanshawe College, I’ve seen how impactful strong student leadership can be. I’ve also seen where we can do better. That’s why I’m running to ensure every student feels supported, represented, and empowered.
My campaign, Fanshawe Forward, is rooted in three key priorities:
I am committed to advocacy, accountability, and action. Your voices deserve to be heard at every decision-making table, and I am ready to stand firmly on your behalf.
Voting takes place from March 1 at 9:00 a.m. to March 4 at 2:00 p.m. on FanshaweOnline. I would be truly grateful for your support by voting Shadé Dias for your next FSU President.
Together, let’s build a stronger, more inclusive campus and move Fanshawe Forward.
Thank you, One Love!
Dear Students,
Dear Students,
Support is not something you need to search for. Support is something you can count on. I am running for President to ensure every Falcon feels supported, represented, and heard.
My name is Elizabeth, and I am a Graphic Design student. Art has always been more than a school program; it is how I see the world. My studies have unlocked my creativity, which I bring into every role I take on.
As a childminder, I provided an on-campus service for student-parents. In another role, I gained strong knowledge of student advocacy, college policies, and procedures. I understand how decisions are made, and I want your voice to be a main part of them.
Being an international student from Ukraine, I realize how important belonging is. I am committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment where Indigenous, domestic, and international students feel connected and valued.
As President, I will prioritize mental health, food security, affordability, and strong advocacy in response to OSAP changes and Bill 33. I will re-energize student life with innovative opportunities and revive campus culture to paint a better future together.
It would be a true honour to serve you as President of the Fanshawe Student Union. You are the heart of this campus, and your thoughts matter most. My goal is to listen carefully, advocate passionately, as your ideas deserve to be heard and acted upon with attention and transparency.

As a fellow student at Fanshawe, I am guided by one simple belief: we deserve to feel heard.
My real education at Fanshawe hasn’t just come from classrooms – it’s come from living the student experience alongside you: learning to budget to stay in school, building confidence through involvement, and realizing how many of us carry struggles no one else sees.
Through serving various volunteer roles on campus, I’ve had the privilege of sitting down with many of you from different programs and walks of life. I’ve listened as you shared about academic pressure, financial stress, mental health challenges, loneliness, and the quiet fear of not knowing what comes next. Those conversations changed me because I’ve been there too. They taught me that leadership isn’t about having all the answers but about being present, listening with intention, and taking action that truly matters.
I believe leadership is a responsibility to one another and a commitment to standing with you. My goal is simple – to be a student serving students, ensuring our voices are reflected in every decision made.
As your future FSU President, I will
Because I believe in a campus where your voice doesn’t just get heard, it leads.
Your Vision is My Mission - Toward a Shared Future Shaped Together.
I’m Shivani Sohoni, a Dentist by profession and a Leader by conviction.
Dentistry taught me one principle above all: “Precision is not optional”. In clinical practice, accountability, empathy, and steady hands under pressure weren’t ideals, they were requirements. Trust was built through clarity, preparation, and execution. That is exactly what I bring to the FSU.
Fanshawe is facing uncertainty - program cuts, staffing losses, and students left with questions. This moment does not call for slogans. It calls for structured, steady leadership backed by an operational plan.
My approach is disciplined: listen carefully, analyze thoroughly, execute decisively.
Execution: I will push for documented transition pathways for every student affected by program cuts, so no one is left navigating alone.
I will introduce Pay-What-You-Can meal initiatives and establish an Emergency Micro-Grant Fund for students in immediate financial distress. I will actively pursue a fair LTC bus pass agreement this year—because affordability matters now, not later.
Precision: My platform includes 46 concrete commitments. Each has a timeline, a mechanism, and a defined cost. 31 require zero new spending, because effective advocacy is not about bigger budgets, it’s about smarter leadership.
Vision: Clear communication channels so your voice is consistently heard. Formal employer partnerships that create real career pathways.
Events that are purposeful, not performative.
I am not another candidate offering promises. I am a leader trained in precision, guided by service, and driven by measurable impact.
Steady hands. Strong voice. Real results.
Vote Shivani. Ready on Day One.

Hello Fanshawe,
I’m Abrar Ul Hoque, a student in Fanshawe’s automotive technology and motive power trades program, where I’ve learned that real results come from discipline, teamwork, and doing the work the right way every time. I'm running for the FSU Board of Directors because I want student concerns to be heard clearly and handled with action.
I’ve represented students as a Class Representative for three terms, and I’ve served as an International Student Ambassador for four consecutive terms. As Class Representative, I actively brought student concerns forward in meetings with Associate Deans and Academic Advisors helping turn feedback into clear action and better communication. As an Ambassador, I supported interested and incoming students by answering questions, guiding them to campus resources, and helping them feel confident, welcomed, and supported from day one.
I try to be approachable and consistent. Students feel comfortable talking to me because I listen first and take concerns seriously. When something needs to be brought forward, I’m comfortable speaking up respectfully in meetings. I care about fairness, clear communication, and small changes that genuinely make student life easier. I believe that -
‘Not everyone starts in the same place, but everyone deserves a fair chance to grow’
And if you see me around campus, feel free to say hi quick conversations are how real change starts.
Hello, my name is Agrim Thakur and I am a second-semester student in the Developmental Services Worker program at Fanshawe College.
My leadership journey began as Vice Head Boy in high school and continued as Joint Secretary at Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, University of Delhi, India, where I represented student concerns and worked with administration to improve campus initiatives. I am also a five-time National Judo Champion, which has taught me discipline, resilience, teamwork, and the importance of fair and respectful representation.
In addition, I bring over six years of experience in the food industry, progressing from employee to restaurant owner. Managing staff, finances, and daily operations strengthened my problem-solving ability, accountability, and decision-making — qualities essential for responsible governance.
As a student and a learner, I understand the challenges students face, including housing, finances, academic pressure, and overall well-being. The Board of Directors must make informed decisions while ensuring student voices remain at the center of every discussion.
My focus is on practical improvements: affordable learning materials, housing support, low-cost food options, improved study spaces, faster student services, stronger safety measures, mental health and accessibility support, transportation assistance, student job opportunities, and clearer communication between students and administration.
If elected, I will advocate for solutions that improve everyday student life and create a campus where every student feels supported and represented. I am committed to serving students with honesty, responsibility, and integrity.
Hi everyone, I am Ralph Matthew M. Cruz, and I am running for the Director position with one clear direction: to stand for students’ welfare while responsibly aligning with Fanshawe’s policies and values.
I am fully aware that every decision made at the leadership level affects us as students – academically, financially, and personally. That is why I know how important decisions should always be considered favorable for the student welfare first. Needs, concerns, and overall well-being should be the priority. I also do recognize the importance of working collaboratively and respectfully within the policies and standards set by Fanshawe College.
If you give me the chance to be elected, I will carefully evaluate issues by asking one key question: How does this benefit us students? I will make sure that solutions will always involve in supporting fairness, inclusivity, accessibility, and academic success, while ensuring that all actions are followed accordingly with the college policies. My leadership focuses to be the voice of what students deserve while maintaining professionalism and cooperation with the administration.
I will make sure that feedbacks and transparency in communication will be present during my term. I want students to feel confident that their concerns are not only heard but also properly represented in discussions and decisions.
My goal is simple: to be student-centered in decisions that will protect and promote our welfare without compromising integrity. With your support, we can build a stronger student community where leadership truly works in favor of the students.
