The FSU Annual General Meeting (AGM) is your opportunity to have a direct say in FSU decisions. At the AGM, members can vote on proposed FSU By-Law changes, confirm the appointment of the Auditor, and share feedback with student leadership. Its also a chance to meet the current and incoming FSU Board of Directors and learn more about the work of the FSU. All members are welcome to attend and participate*.
The AGM is open to all members of the FSU. All full-time students at Fanshawe College who are actively progressing in their programs are considered members of the FSU*.
Unfortunately, part-time students are not considered members of the FSU and are therefore not able to attend the AGM.
Those who register and indicate that they wish to attend through Zoom will receive an email no later than Tuesday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m. with the Zoom login information needed to take part in the meeting.
Online registration is preferred as it allows us to better prepare for the event. However, walk-ins will be accepted, provided they show valid student ID that demonstrates they are current members of the FSU.
In order to attend virtually, you must register in advance to be provided with the meeting link.
The AGM is your opportunity to engage directly with the elected student leaders who are helping to shape your college experience. Whether you are familiar with the FSU and what it does, or just interested in learning more, the AGM is an invaluable way to connect with the FSU and find out how your student leaders are working to support YOU.
ALSO! Join us for bingo games before and after the AGM, where you can win exciting prizes like an E-Scooter, MacBook Air, and more! Snacks and refreshments will be available.
FSU Directors are elected to represent all full-time Fanshawe College students on the Student Administrative Council (S.A.C.) Board of the FSU. FSU Directors are responsible for defining the strategic goals to be implemented by the operations of the FSU. Directors are a major policy-making body of the FSU. For more information on the FSU Directors, visit our Directors page.
The AGM starts at 5:30 pm and will last approximately one hour, depending on the length and depth of discussions.
Bingo games will be played at 5:00 pm - before the meeting and at the conclusion of the meeting. You must be present at the end of the AGM to claim any prizes won during the Bingo games.
The AGM is casual, with an opportunity to network and mingle over snacks before and after the meeting. To prepare yourself on the FSU’s By-Law, governance structure, and services, it is recommended that you watch the FSU Leadership Modules and take the quiz to test your knowledge.
FSU By-Laws are the formal rules that explain how the FSU is governed and how it operates. These by-laws are written, member approved, rules that govern member rights, authority, structure, and decision making. You can also think of by-laws as a constitution - they define who can decide what, when, and how. You can see the current FSU By-Laws here.
